From Street to House - The In Between

Anatomical booklet progress83.jpg

The title From Street to House refers to the In Between.

That small space on the walkway between the public area (for walking) and the private one (the house). A transition zone that has the power to create inclusivity within the street and the inhabitants of that street, as long as it`s being used.

The In Between covers aspects of appropriation, ownership, contact and safety.  The goal of the project is to design an inclusive space that becomes a place, where there are no cars, neighbors can meet each other and the kids are feeling safe enough to play in the street.

In the section is clearly visible the division from private, to semi-public, to public.

Plan and elevation with intervention on Meester Ulrichweg.

A now, carless street where safety, connection and inclusion are a priority. Having no traffic has allowed the street to have space for a communal garden, a playing ground for the kids and an in between in front of all residences.
